                  Chana chaat

      


Chana chaat is a snack. It is tangy and savoury 

You can find dozens of varieties at food stalls or even at home.

Ramadan and Eid are prime times for eating it, however, it can be enjoyed all year round.

It is a healthy and delicious vegan chickpeas salad.

This chana chaat can be served as a snack or appetizer and as a side dinner or lunch.


Chickpeas :

        

       

Chickpeas are a very good vegetarian protein source and are also high in fiber.

 

Potatoes :


 Boiled and cubed potatoes are also the main ingredients. 


    


Tomatoes:


Remove the seeds from the tomatoes and chop them finely. 


Spices and seasonings:


Salt, chili flakes, roasted cumin, chat masala powder, black pepper.


Lime juice:


To add sourness to chaat, lime juice is used. 


Onion:


Diced or roughly chopped onion provides a crunch, which is essential to any good chatt. 


Green chilies:


Chaat made with chickpeas is very flavourful with green chillies as an optional ingredient. 

      


Fresh mint:



Fresh mint provides a refreshing taste. 


Fresh coriander:




Finely chopped fresh coriander adds a lovely fresh look and flavor.


Tamarind or imli ki chutney:



This is an important ingredient of chana chaat. It has an incredible aroma that enhances the taste and flavor of chana chaat. 


Papri:


In Pakistan and India papri also gives a delicious crunch to any chaat.



Chatpati Chana chatt


Boiled chickpeas.                     1 cup

Boiled potatoes.                       1 cup

Tomatoes.                                 1 medium

Cucumber cut in                      1 cup

Noodles shape.

Onion.                                        1 Medium

Mashed potatoes.                   1/4cup

Salt.                                        ¾tsp                                     

Chilli flakes.                              1/2 tsp

Green chatney.                         2 tsp

Green Yogurt sauce.              1 cup

Tamarind /imli ki chatney.    1/4cup

Chopped green chillies.        1/2 tsp

Fresh coriander.                       2 tbsp

Mint leaves.                               2 tbsp

Chaat masala.                           1 tsp

Papri.                                          1 cup


Method :


In a bowl add boiled chickpeas, boiled potato tomatoes, cucumbers cut in the noodles shape, onion ring, mash potatoes salt, chilli flakes, cumin, green chatney and mix well. 

Transfer it in a serving bowl add green Yogurt sauce, Tamarind chatney chopped green chillies, fresh coriander, mint leaves. 

Top with Chaat masala and papri and serve. 


Green sauce :


Yogurt.                   1 cup 

Green chatney     2 tsp

Salt.                        1/4 tsp


Mix all ingredients well.
