What is tart? 

Tart is a pastry shell which can be filled with different fruits,cream, custard and jelly. 
Tart is a popular baked pastry shell. Traditionally tart is a pastry dough. The dough is light and flaky. The dough is made by shortcrust pastry. Shortcrust pastry is usually crumbly. 

Appetizer:

Tart is an appetizer and served single. When pastry dough was prepared, the tart baked blindly. Thus the shell is prepared and can be filled with different filling. 
Basically a tart consists of a pastry (shell) which is sweet or savoury with bottom crust. 
Tart is a baked item with an open top. It is not a cake. Cake is sweet, sponge and soft stuff covered with cream. 
Modern tarts are fruity, sometimes filled with custard and cream. 
Tart may be savoury and pastry dough may be different, maybe used Yeast based dough for different flavour or texture. 

How do you eat tart

Fruit or savoury tart is eaten with a fork. 
We are making chicken tart. It's very simple, delicious and mouth-watering. You will really like it.

  • Dough (pastry) Ingredients :
  •  125 grams bread flour  
  •  1 teaspoon Yeast                       
  •  ½ teaspoon Salt    
  •  1 teaspoon Caster Sugar    
  •  1 teaspoon butter 
  •  1 tablespoon oil
  •  Required Lukewarm Water       

Chicken Cheese Filling :

  • 200 grams chicken 
  • 1 tablespoon oil
  • 1 tablespoon chopped onion 
  • 1/2 teaspoon chopped garlic
  • 1/2 teaspoon chilli flakes 
  • 1/4 teaspoon red chilli powder 
  • 1 tablespoon Ketchup 
  • 2 tablespoons Capsicum
  • 1 teaspoon Lemon juice 
  • 2 tablespoons tomatoes 
  • 150 grams Cheddar cheese 
  • 1/2 teaspoon Oregano 

Method
  1. Combine the bread flour, sugar,Yeast and salt in a bowl. Add lukewarm water to form a dough into the bowl. Add oil and knead gently. Add butter and knead well gently into a smooth ball. 
  2. Grease the bowl and put the dough in it. Cover the bowl with cling film and put it in a warm place to let it rise/proof for about one hour. 
  3. Put the dough on a floured counter and roll it. Cut it in circles with a cookie cutter, grease the cupcake tray and put the circles in it. And spread equally .Then prick it with a fork and bake at 180 °C for 10 minutes.
  4. Heat a pan with oil.Saute onion and garlic, then add small chicken cubes and fry until change its colour. Then add salt, chilli flakes, red chilli powder and cook on high flame. Add chopped capsicum, stir one minute and switch off the flame. Add lemon juice and cool down the filling and add chopped tomatoes.
  5. Brush the tart base with ketchup and put filling on it. Spread cheese, oregano and bake until cheese melts and coloured
