Varieties of Lentils :
There are a variety of lentils but brown, white, yellow, red and green are very popular. They are good for making daal curry and also for sweets (desi Halwas).
White Lentil (Daal Mash) :
I am going to tell you how to cook white lentil curry (mash daal). This is one of my favourite daal. It is also a favourite and trending food (meal) in the world these days. It smells good and tastes delicious.
Mash daal is a wonderful, tasty treat for vegetarians.
Serving :
It can be served with chapati, green Yogurt Chutney, achar, tomato Chutney and salad.

Recipe :
It's a tasty recipe of white lentil (Mash daal)
Ingredients :
White lentil. 250 grams
Turmeric. ½ tsp
Oil. 4 tablespoons
Butter. 2 tablespoons
Onion. 1 Medium
Ginger paste. 1 teaspoon
Garlic paste. 1 teaspoon
Tomatoes. 2
Salt. 1 teaspoon
Red chilli powder. 3/4 teaspoon
Chilli flakes. 1 teaspoon
Roasted cumin. 1 teaspoon
All spice powder. ½ teaspoon
Green chilli. 4
Yogurt. 1 tablespoon
Chaat masala. 1/2 teaspoon
Water. 1 cup
Fresh coriander. 3 tablespoons
Method :
Wash and Soak the white lenti for 1 and ½ an hour.
Bring the water to boil, add Turmeric and boil the lentil.
Heat the oil and butter in the pan and saute chopped onion till light brown.
Add ginger, garlic paste and chopped tomatoes and saute well.
Add spices, salt, red chilli powder, chilli flakes, roasted cumin and whole green chillies.
When mixture is thick and releases oil from edges add boiled lentil and water.
Add all the spice powder and chaat masala. Cover for five minutes. Then add chopped fresh coriander and serve.
